It is a known fact that equality greatly benefits societies, helps companies improve productivity, improve financial performance of companies, widen talent pool and positively impact the economies of nations.
Gender equality, parity, diversity and inclusion, is not a ‘women’s issue’ or a ‘certain group issue’ only, but a ‘society issue’ and cannot be advanced solely through women’s efforts in public or private spheres. Men are important actors and allies who can share the responsibility and participate actively in this agenda.
The fact that the most influential decision-making positions in fintech and payments sectors are held by men, it is very fundamental and necessary that men take active role in the gender equality, diversity and inclusion equation. By publicly speaking out and working in partnership with women, underrepresented groups and minorities, male allies can be game-changers in transforming the cultures and institutions that uphold harmful norms.
We at EWPN are very hopeful as we look ahead that more men working in fintech and payments will show up as allies for women and underrepresented people in the industry by taking a stand, providing mentorship, acting as sponsors, leveraging their voices and their power to make real change to improve diversity and inclusion that fintech and payments industry desperately needs.
