April 2019 – Continuing its commitment to encouraging diversity in the financial services industry, Mastercard will be the Headline Sponsor of the 2019 annual conference for the European Women Payments Network (EWPN). The conference takes place in Amsterdam on 4th and 5th June 2019, alongside Money20/20 Europe.

The EWPN is a not-for-profit Pan-European community that strives to create more opportunities for women and minorities, as well as being a champion for a more diverse and inclusive industry for all. Members include women – and men who recognise the critical issues the EWPN seeks to address – from all areas and all levels in the cards & payments, FinTech and Banking industries.

The third annual EWPN Conference brings together finance sector professionals from all over Europe for an award ceremony and full day event. Interactive panels, deep-dive workshops, and plenary sessions with industry female leaders will provide the forum for debate and discussion.

Jason Lane, Executive Vice President, Market Development, Europe, International Markets, Mastercard said: “Sponsoring the EWPN annual conference, and supporting the important work carried out by the organisation, demonstrates the importance Mastercard places upon inclusion and diversity.

“At Mastercard we believe that our differences enable us to be a better team, make better decisions, drive innovation and deliver better business results. A more diverse team is a stronger team. We are committed to cultivating a culture in which everyone is accepted and encouraged to reach their full potential. This is a vision we support in the wider industry, not just internally.”

Tracey Davies, President of EWPN’s Exclusive Partner, Money20/20 added: “For the first time this year, the EWPN Annual Conference will run concurrently with Money20/20 Europe in Amsterdam. Bringing the two events together will allow both organisations to increase the reach and the impact we can have on the Financial Services and FinTech industry.

“This is an important and highly valuable partnership, and represents the increasing attention being given to the important issues of diversity and inclusion in our industry.”

Martha Mghendi-Fisher, EWPN Founder, concluded: “Creating a positive arena where women can come together to discuss issues relating to women in the industry, we can begin to bridge the gender gap, pushing more diversity and inspiring future generations of girls into the sector. To have the support of such an internationally renowned and respected company as Mastercard is a huge boost for our visibility.

“The partnership will help us to get more women and men involved from across the industry, working together to increase equality and diversity and helping us to make a bigger impact and bring about change more quickly.”
